[glow=green,2,300]Okay, everytime I try to get online, when I'm doing the network adapter configuration, I finish that and all, but when I go to do the Test Connection, it says "Timeout Dead" and I have no idea what that means. Because when I have my laptop plugged in, I can get online just fine, but when I have my PS2 plugged in, it doesn't work. I don't know if it's just not working because I have Dial-Up or something, but I need help on what "Timeout Dead" means. Please! [/glow]

Its because most if not all ps2 games are broadband only.

Don't worry, we've done this before. A couple questions first: Do you have standard dial-up of DSL? This game prefers a broadband (faster) connection than the 64k dial-up- although I've seen people do it...the slow connection will probably lag. When you set up you network config on the PS2, did you set everything to auto? Someone had this problem before, and they were putting in their parent's username and password. Just try setting everything to auto. The first and most important step is to see if the Network Adapter config is set up properly and tests successfully.

If it's mostly broadband only then it's funny that they would put Dial-Up as a option. But thanks for the tips Darkbugg. I've tried to get my Dad to get High-Speed Interent for awhile now. But he just wants to stick with Dial-Up, which SUCKS. And then he complains that it's to slow. But whats even more stupid is that he makes about $10,000 a week IF he works. So I don't see the big deal about getting it.

Yeah, it wants broadband but you can still connect through dial-up. The game will get choppy and you'll more than likely get stuck in the back because the line can't get or send the information fast enough. Nonetheless, you can still get it to work...
That's unfortunate that he won't upgrade to a faster connection- as cheap as it is anymore. Even just DSL has spoiled me against dial-up.....I'd never want to get there again.

Ok, let me know if you don't understand something and I'll try to explain it a little better. To connect your ps2 to the internet, just take whatever cable that goes to your computer for the internet and plug that into the back of the ps2. (it should look like a fat phone cable) Then, just put in the Jak X game, choose the online mode, and it'll say there's no configuration set up, so tell it to make a new one. Make sure you set everything it asks to 'auto' and it'll test the connection to make sure it can connect to the internet. It should say "test successful" if everything is set up correctly. Then, it should take you back to the game screen, tell it to go online again, and it should connect.

The only thing you need the computer for is unplugging the cable from it. ;D Unless you have a router, which can have both on at the same time if you have a second ethernet cable.
